Pinch & Pour

Our story

She doesn’t cook from recipes. She cooks from feeling.

I’d watch my wife in the kitchen and see something I couldn’t explain or copy. The food came together without measuring and without instructions. It came from instinct: years of watching, tasting, and adjusting, and something passed down that lives in her hands instead of a notebook. She knows the pan is ready without looking at the temperature.

Afterward I’d ask her, “How did you make that?” She’d struggle to say. She couldn’t retrace the steps, because there were no steps. There was only the doing.

With two kids and a home that asks everything of her, she barely has time for herself, let alone an evening to write her cooking down. So the question became urgent: if her way of feeding her family was ever going to reach her children’s children, how would it get there?

It wasn’t going to be a book or a sit-down session. It had to be captured in the moment she was living it: one hand at the griddle, a baby on her other arm, and another child up on the counter.

Painted illustration with the Pinch & Pour logo and the words “Record. Talk. Get a recipe instantly.” A mother reaches for pancakes on a griddle while holding a baby in a Spider-Man costume who grips an orange spatula. Behind her, a child in a Bumblebee costume kneels on the counter, hanging on to a cupboard door.
It started with Saturday mornings like this one: pancakes on the griddle, bananas sliced and waiting, a Spider-Man on her hip with a firm grip on the spatula, and a Bumblebee on the counter, hanging on the cupboard door. No food stylist, and no way to stop and write anything down.
“Every pinch of this and pour of that.”
That phrase is where the name came from. And that moment, cooking and talking and holding and stirring all at once, is what Pinch & Pour was built to capture.

Every family has a cook like her

Maybe it’s your mom’s gravy, or the dumplings your grandmother has never once measured. The person who makes it is still at the stove, and the recipe isn’t written down anywhere.

Pinch & Pour catches it the way they already cook. Prop your phone on the counter, press record, and let them talk. You get the recipe in their own words, ready to keep and to send to everyone who asks.

What we believe

  • The recipes worth keeping are the ones you’ve never written down.
  • “A pinch of this” is a real amount. “Cook until it smells right” is a real instruction.
  • We never list your recipes publicly or offer them to search engines. When you share one, the people you send it to don’t need an account to open it.

Who in your family cooks something nobody else can?

Next time they’re at the stove, press record. They don’t have to do anything differently.
